Jennifer's Wedding

Jennifer's wedding at Woodend Sanctuary last spring was so full of life and bright colors.  Jennifer wanted a really loose and organic bouquet.  She collected some beautiful old vintage bottles for the tables and she told me that she wanted to use a vibrant coral color with succulents.  I knew immediately we had to use coral charm peonies, and I think they stole the show in these designs.  Jennifer and Erik were so sweet to work with, they even met me in the middle of a snow storm to discuss flowers!

Jennifer's bouquet was filled with white and pink spray roses, pink and peach roses, peach stock, craspedia, peach and yellow ranunculus, light pink hydrangea, coral peonies, succulents and jasmine vine.  I finished the bouquet with some gorgeous ribbon picked up from a trip to New York City.

The boutonnieres were made of coral spray roses, craspedia, limonium and eucalyptus and tied with twine.  The corsages for the mothers were made of coral ranunculus, light pink spray roses and craspedia.

 

I loved that the bridesmaids carried single coral charm peonies.  I left a lot of the greens on and we chose not to even use ribbon!  So simple, but when you have such a show stopper like these coral charm peonies, you really don't need much else!

This sweetie pie flower girl wore a crown of light pink spray roses, with a touch of yellow from the craspedia and a little bit of limonium and eucalyptus to add some airy-ness.  The aisle was lined with jars of peach stock, yellow ranunculus, limonium, and champagne lisianthus.

 

To fill the vintage bottles, I used flowers that complimented the flowers from the ceremony.

 

Jennifer and Erik had a small but elegant cake.  Those peonies!! I love how the yellow from the ranunculus picked up the center of the peonies.

One other special area that needed decor was the bottom of a long staircase inside the mansion.  Most of the reception was held in a tent but the music and cake table were inside.  So, to add a touch of color, I created this arrangement for the staircase.  I added green hanging amaranthus to add a bit of drama and "drippy-ness" to the design.

I just love this shot of Jennifer's bouquet on the mantle.  It shows off those vibrant bright colors as well as the way the custom ribbons picked up all the color. How sweet is that little yellow ribbon that looks like a flower chain?!

Pretty, pretty peonies!

So typically we think of peonies as a sign of spring and summer, but did you know there's a fall season for peonies too?  They will not be American Grown, they will be imported but if you simply MUST have peonies for your wedding, know that they are also available in the late fall.  I love peonies-they are like fluffy little clouds of sweetness that make every bouquet more beautiful.  They also remind me of my sister, as they are one of her favorites.  Here are some of my favorite peony bouquets.  I hope you might find some inspiration in these images!

 I love these big, fluffy, white peonies.  The simplicity of this bouquet is in the choice of one single stunning flower, accented with only greens.  Lovely!

 These yellow peonies look a little different than the typical ruffly peonies.  These are tree peonies and they have a slightly different look.  I love the complimentary colors of purple and yellow together-they give great contrast which really helps each flower to stand out.

Coral has become a very popular color for weddings in the last few years.  The two shades of coral with the white peonies create a gorgeous contrast to the bride's dress.

I love these bold, burgundy peonies!  When you have such a bold bloom like this, you don't need other flowers!  This bride even had the guts to put one in her hair, too!  Just beautiful!

I loved making this bouquet for Beth.  She asked for peonies and a bouquet that would compliment daisies, her mother's favorite flower.  We chose a creamy off-white peony to compliment the yellows from the daisies and tulips.  There's something so special about being able to create a bouquet that has a special meaning for the bride!

Jesse's Wedding at the Maryland Agricultural Farm

I've been dying to share these photos with you!  In May, I was lucky enough to design a outdoor barn wedding that took place at the Maryland Agricultural Farm, a working farm complete with farm animals and rolling hills in Derwood, MD.  Jesse and Adam wanted a rustic wedding that incorporated their own values, homemade and one-of-a-kind vendors, animals and music.  The result was a gorgeous peach and pink, vegan wedding filled with family and homespun love.

 

The bridal party got ready in a gorgeous old farm house.  The animals were under the barn!

 

The backdrop to the ceremony was a large tree.  We hung mason jars full of white hydrangea from the branches and lined the aisle with small mason jar arrangements filled with white and blush peonies, peach garden roses, white ranunculus, white scabiosas, Queen Anne's Lace, and peach french tulips.  Several old wine barrels were used at the altar and at the beginning of the aisle, decorated with the same flowers.

 

 

Two adorable little flower girls and one very precious (and a little shy) ringbearer helped get Jesse down the aisle.  The girls wore flower wreaths made of eucalyptus leaves, white scabiosa, pink astilbe, and a peach garden rose.  The ringbearer carried a small pillow made of white button mums.

 

The bridesmaids carried a hand-tied bouquet of blush and white peonies, peach garden roses, white scabiosa, pink astilbe, Queen Anne's Lace, and seeded eucalyptus.

 

Jesse's bouquet was made of white peonies with a seeded eucalyptus collar.  Look at that happy smile!  It was so obvious that although so much attention had been paid to the wedding details, the most important thing was the joining of these two as a couple.

 

 

After the ceremony, while the bridal party took pictures, outdoor games were available and a super talented band played as guests enjoyed a cocktail hour.

 

The bride and groom took a minute to visit with the goats after their ceremony!

 

 

The ceremony was set up in the barn, above the animals.  The walls were covered in photos of the couple and their families.  Centerpieces were created by filling hand-stained crates with assorted bottles and jars filled with the days flowers.  Take a look at the bride and groom's glasses!  Her married name is Jesse James!

 

 

The night was filled with music, dancing and a bubble send-off!
