Lindsay's Wedding

Lindsay and David were married at The River Farm and wanted a bohemian garden look using jewel tones to add a pop of color to their garden wedding.  I had so much fun using these bright, vibrant colors to create the look they wanted.

Lindsay's bouquet was an asymetrical and airy gathering of eucalyptus, dahlias, thistles, anemones, freesia, garden roses, craspedia, german chamomile, scabiosa, succulents and hypericum berries.  I love how each color contrasts with the next, especially those little pops of yellow.

David's boutonniere was made to compliment the bouquet.  I used fuschia spray roses, hypericum berries, craspedia and a thistle, with a backing of camelia leaves.

 

Lindsay's cake was decorated in concentric circles of greens, and accented with a few more of the roses and dahlias that we used in the centerpieces.

We created two centerpiece designs.  One was a simple natural grouping of bottles and bud vases and the other was a large and vibrant collection of the day's flowers.  They truly brought vivid colors to the reception tent.

 

Lindsay's dress was truly one of a kind.  I love the lace detail!

Erin's Wedding

When Erin told me that she wanted purple flowers for her bridal bouquet, I was ecstatic.  I love using bold colors and couldn’t wait to get started.  She was also excited to use succulents in her bouquet and I think we found the perfect ones!  Erin’s bridal bouquet was made of lavender roses, purple lisianthus, purple stock, lavender snapdragons, white freesia, Earl Grey roses (yes, grey roses!  These are a new favorite of mine!), sage leaves and beautiful silvery-purple succulents.  I was able to pick out all of the ribbon detailing for her bouquet at M&J Trimming in New York City.  I used several widths of hand-dyed grey and purple silk, a lavender striped ribbon and finished it with a gorgeous piece of pewter lace.  Ladies, don’t be afraid of fun ribbon!  Ribbon is the perfect accent to your bouquet!  The Maid’s bouquets were a lighter combination of the same flowers and tied with more purple silk!

I wanted to tie the corsages and boutonnieres in with the bouquets so I used the same succulents to create a floral cuff for the ladies and boutonnieres for the guys!  These designs were accented by shades of purple stock, white scabiosa and white freesia.

 

Morningside Inn is a gorgeous backdrop for a wedding and the pergola that is available for an outside ceremony is just lovely, all by itself.  Erin wanted to add a garland of seeded eucalyptus and accent that with the purple tones from the bouquets.  I added two shades of purple stock, and lavender snapdragons, as well as lavender and grey roses.  I love the way it framed the couple as they said their vows.

One thing that is very evident from seeing Erin and Donald on their wedding day is that they are very much in love.  I love the way they look at each other!

 

What a great way to walk back up the aisle!

Vi's Wedding at the Marriott Gaithersburg Washingtonian Center

I'm so happy to share Vi's wedding with you!  Vi wanted simple white and green flowers with navy accents.  After several revisions, we came up with some gorgeous designs that even included a favorite flower to remind Vi of her grandmother.  I'm proud to say that more than half of the flowers used in this wedding were grown in the United States, something that has become increasingly important to Sweet Blossoms over the last year!

Vi's bouquet was made up of only freesia, ranunculus and tulips.  The bridesmaids carried bouquets of white tulips, to remind Vi of her grandmother.

Vi had an adorable flower girl who got to wear a one-of-a-kind flower halo made of white spray roses and sea star fern.  I love the accent of the green with the white flowers!

 

There was one more cutie who helped Vi make her way to the aisle.

Here are some more of my favorite pictures from the day.  Vi's married name is Vi King!  Get it?  Viking? I love plays on words!

 

 I love the blue ribbon details on Vi's bouquet of satin, organza and a two-toned wired ribbon to finish of her satin-wrapped bouquet.

 

 

I love when the couple has fun foot attire!  These two had real flare!  

The boutonnieres were made of white spray roses and accented with sea star fern.  I loved using the spiky leaves of the fern to incorporate green into the design.  

The altar arrangements were created with white larkspur, Bells of Ireland, jumbo white hydrangea and green hanging amaranthus.  I love the way the amaranthus dripped from the top of the vase!

Anna's wedding in Leesburg, VA

I'm so excited to finally share this wedding with you.  One of my oldest and dearest friends got married at a private residence in Paeonian Springs, Virginia.  Our mothers met in college and have been best friends ever since.  When Anna and Tom asked me to do the floral design, I couldn't wait to get started.  She was getting married in a barn that belonged to some of her friends so I knew we needed something that looked rustic and natural.  We decided on an all white design with touches of natural greens and blues.

  

Anna's bouquet was made of white hydrangea, white ranunculus, silver brunia berries, seeded eucalyptus, and echiveria succulents.  We wrapped it in burlap and attached tiny pictures of Anna's grandparents, who weren't able to be with her that day.  Tom's boutonniere was made of an echiveria succulent and seeded eucalyptus to match Anna's bouquet.  Look at his face below when he saw Anna at the end of the aisle.....the love in this ceremony was overwhelming.

     

During the ceremony, Tom had a hard time repeating his vows.  When this picture was taken, he actually stopped the ceremony to tell us all that Anna was so beautiful, he was getting flustered and couldn't remember what to say!!  It was one of the most touching ceremonies I've ever been witness to.

 
The bridesmaid bouquets were made of blue hydrangea, white spray roses, and white lysimachia.  They were all wrapped in burlap to match the bride's bouquet.  For the aisle, we did galvanized buckets of hydrangea, lanterns and white rose petals.  The sweet little ringbearer had a boutonniere of white spray roses and the flower girls carried moss covered baskets with white rose petals.

      

   

 

Anna and her family put all those twinkle lights up themselves and it made for a beautiful scene.  We had two designs.  One was a long wooden box that Anna stained herself filled with blue and white hydrangea, white Oriental lilies, white snapdragons, white lisianthus and seeded eucalyptus.  The second was a short arrangement with blue hydrangea, dusty miller, white dahlias, blue thistles, and white lisianthus.  These were accented by tall thin-necked bottles with freesia and white ranunculus.

    

The pictures below are a few of my favorites.  Anna's cake was made by my mother-Anna's favorite and mine, carrot cake with cream cheese icing.  The cake topper was made by my sister, Jesse, who designs custom cake toppers through her Etsy shop, Pretty Little Things and reflects Anna's job as a federal agent!!  The flowers, obviously are from me.  The first picture below is a true representation of our families and how happy we all were to be a part of Anna's day.  The last two are how I was greeted by Anna on the day of her wedding.  

 

I really am lucky to have this job that enables me to create beautiful designs for brides on the most special day of their lives.  Designing for Anna made it all the more special.
