Jennifer's Wedding

Jennifer's wedding at Woodend Sanctuary last spring was so full of life and bright colors.  Jennifer wanted a really loose and organic bouquet.  She collected some beautiful old vintage bottles for the tables and she told me that she wanted to use a vibrant coral color with succulents.  I knew immediately we had to use coral charm peonies, and I think they stole the show in these designs.  Jennifer and Erik were so sweet to work with, they even met me in the middle of a snow storm to discuss flowers!

Jennifer's bouquet was filled with white and pink spray roses, pink and peach roses, peach stock, craspedia, peach and yellow ranunculus, light pink hydrangea, coral peonies, succulents and jasmine vine.  I finished the bouquet with some gorgeous ribbon picked up from a trip to New York City.

The boutonnieres were made of coral spray roses, craspedia, limonium and eucalyptus and tied with twine.  The corsages for the mothers were made of coral ranunculus, light pink spray roses and craspedia.

 

I loved that the bridesmaids carried single coral charm peonies.  I left a lot of the greens on and we chose not to even use ribbon!  So simple, but when you have such a show stopper like these coral charm peonies, you really don't need much else!

This sweetie pie flower girl wore a crown of light pink spray roses, with a touch of yellow from the craspedia and a little bit of limonium and eucalyptus to add some airy-ness.  The aisle was lined with jars of peach stock, yellow ranunculus, limonium, and champagne lisianthus.

 

To fill the vintage bottles, I used flowers that complimented the flowers from the ceremony.

 

Jennifer and Erik had a small but elegant cake.  Those peonies!! I love how the yellow from the ranunculus picked up the center of the peonies.

One other special area that needed decor was the bottom of a long staircase inside the mansion.  Most of the reception was held in a tent but the music and cake table were inside.  So, to add a touch of color, I created this arrangement for the staircase.  I added green hanging amaranthus to add a bit of drama and "drippy-ness" to the design.

I just love this shot of Jennifer's bouquet on the mantle.  It shows off those vibrant bright colors as well as the way the custom ribbons picked up all the color. How sweet is that little yellow ribbon that looks like a flower chain?!

Katie's Wedding at Springfield Manor

I am always thrilled to do a wedding out in beautiful Frederick, MD and Katie's wedding was no exception.  In addition to Katie having exquisite taste with her ivory and champagne wedding with green and blush accents, Katie and I clicked immediately on a personal level.  I love an organized bride and Katie was a girl after my own heart with her spreadsheets and color coded emails.  It was a joy to design for her wedding and I'm so excited to share her wedding with you!

Katie's bouquet was made of white and cream roses, minty green Lola succulents, local mountain mint, white lisianthus, silver brunia berries, white snapdragons, white wax flowers, and white spray roses.  I finished it with some gold sprayed seeded eucalyptus and a gorgeous champagne and ivory ribbon treatment.  I could NOT get enough of this bouquet!  The maid's bouquets were smaller versions of Katie's.

 

 Katie had several designs for her reception table.  We had cedar boxes custom made for two of them.  For the head table, I used long boxes filled with white hydrangea, white garden roses, blush roses, Bells of Ireland, white snapdragons, mountain mint, white wax flowers and a little accent of gold sprayed eucalyptus.

The second design was a 6x6 square box filled with the same flowers and the third design was a lush ring of flowers which included some creamy carnations for texture surrounding an antique white lantern.

 

 There are several lovely ceremony sites at Springfield Manor but my favorite is under a humongous white arbor that backs up to a green mountainside.  We added a small spray in coordinating colors to decorate the arch and lined the aisle with lanterns that were overflowing with flowers spilling out into the aisle!

                 

Another favorite element was the gorgeous cakes by Karen Rodney Cakes.  I love when the groom's cake allows the couple's personality to shine!  And look at those sugar flowers on the wedding cake!!

Brittany's Wedding

I am so happy to share this wedding with my readers.  Brittany and I have similar tastes with regard to color and texture so it was easy to create the designs for this orange and blue wedding!  We started by picking out the right orange flowers, and from there Brittany was hooked on the textures I wanted to bring into the mix.  

Brittany's bouquet was made of several types of orange roses, orange and white spray roses, blue thistles, orange hypericum berries, orange snapdragons, blue hydrangea, dusty miller, gardenia, and sea star fern.  I loved the airiness of the sea star fern and it was the perfect green accent for this bouquet.

I love adding gardenias to a bouquet.  The aroma is unparalleled, and the elegance of the swirls in the petals is perfect!

The Maid's bouquets were decidedly neutral against the girls' deep navy blue dresses!  We used white snapdragons, white garden roses, baby green hydrangea, dusty miller, white ranunculus, sea star fern, and for a pop of color, orange hypericum berries and green jackpot thistles.

AJ, the groom, is in the navy, so there was no boutonniere for his crisp uniform, but the rest of the men wore little boutonnieres made of ranunculus, jackpot thistles, and hypericum berries.

I have a new technique for corsages and I finally have a picture of them!  These little pretties are created on metal cuffs.  Gone are the days of those little bundles of flowers that flop around on your wrist on a piece of flimsy elastic!  These are super secure and they feel like a little piece of jewelry for your special day!  These were made from white ranunculus, orange spray roses, white astilbe and, of course, accents of sea star fern.

Little bundles of white hydrangea, white garden roses, orange hypericum berries, blue thistles and sea star fern tied with white satin ribbon lined the aisle.  The altar was decorated with two white urns filled with white hydrangea, white and orange roses, orange snapdragons and salal leaves.  These were repurposed for the sweetheart table during the reception!

 

I created an escort card table arrangement of curly willow, blue delphinium, orange calla lily, orange mokara orchids and a collar of white hydrangea and sea star fern.

Brittany and AJ's cake was a simple white cake with navy blue ribbon, and I was happy to provide a topper and a few accents down the sides of the cake of orange roses and sea star fern. 

The tables were adorned with a simple but textured arrangement of blue hydrangea, blue thistles, orange snapdragons, orange roses, white spray roses and sea star fern.

 

I love this series of photos because it shows the beautiful silhouette of Brittany's dress and also the elegance of the Arch of Swords which is tradition for military weddings.

I loved seeing so much love between Brittany and AJ.  I could feel it when I first met them, and I could feel it at the end of the night when I stopped to congratulate the happy couple!  And by the way....are you swooning over her dress yet?? Between the gorgeous mermaid silhouette and the delicate lace, it's hard to pick my favorite detail!

I love when the photographer catches the bouquet toss on camera!
